It’s (almost) fall y’all! Fall in East Tennessee is one of our favorite times of year. The air feels crisp and the humidity fades away. The Smoky Mountains are filled with stunning shades of orange, yellow and red and the Volunteers get ready to take Neyland Stadium by storm and charge through the Power T. But that’s not all that goes on in Knoxville during the fall. In fact, this time of year brings a ton of special events in and around good ole’ Rocky Top.
One of the first family-fun events in East Tennessee is the 2017 Muscadine Balloon Fiesta at Tsali Notch Vineyard. The two-day Balloon Fiesta begins on Saturday, September 2nd from 2 pm – 10 pm, and runs through Sunday, September 3rd, from 2 pm – 10 pm, at Tsali Notch Vineyard located at 140 Harrison Rd, Madisonville, TN 37354. The finale each night will be a Balloon Glow set to music with 20-30 colorful hot air balloons beginning at dusk. A truly unique event, the ballon festival is filled with wonderful kid-friendly arts and crafts, great food and wine with spectacular sights of bright colored hot air balloons. Tickets range from $5 to $125.
It’s cooler outside so now is a perfect time to take a stroll through downtown Knoxville. Knoxville’s First Friday continues through October. Visit the Old City for free live music, free parking and First Friday specials including food and drink specials alongside great shows by local artists and musicians.
Ready to sample some food in Farragut? The annual Taste of Turkey Creek is Friday, September 8th and benefits The Pat Summit Foundation. Attendees can expect to taste offerings from over two dozen local Knoxville restaurants. In addition to the restaurant showcase there will be wine, beer, live entertainment and a silent auction. Proceeds from the event benefit the Pat Summit Foundation. “Admission prices are $15 in advance for adults or $20 at the door. Tickets include unlimited visits to food vendors and two drink tickets redeemable for wine or beer. Admission for children 12-7 years old is $5 in advance and $10 at the door.
